Chopin was not only an outstanding composer, but also a source of inspiration for an impressive line-up of somewhat lesser-known Polish composers of the 20th and 21st centuries.
His attention to detail, his respect for every nuance of music, the range of emotions he was able to express openly through his unique style, the universal power he could generate through his notes, and his discipline in taking music seriously as a means of communication—the composers who followed in his footsteps have embraced all of this with the same passion. And that is exactly what you hear in the pieces by Ruzinski, Bacewicz, Lutosławski…
The centerpiece of the program is the arrangement of the Sonata for Cello and Piano for bass clarinet/clarinet and piano. We will combine other masterpieces from the solo piano repertoire with highlights from our research on Polish contemporary music for clarinet and piano.
